The Ticker is about to take a bold step forward into the digital world as we embrace the technology that is practically destroying the newspaper industry. This issue marks our first attempt at providing the Baruch community with an original online issue.

This second issue each week will be packed with online videos, audio and slideshows each Thursday morning.

Clark Hoyt, public editor of The New York Times, was the guest at Monday night's reception for the 2008 edition of Dollars and $ense. Professor Andrea Gabor gently grilled him with questions about the uneven balance of the paper's editorial page and acknowledged his earlier role at Knight Ridder, criticizing the administration's plunge into the Iraq war.

A Night in Anatolia

On Monday, April 14, the "Night in Anatolia" event, hosted by the Turkish Student Association, took place in the Multipurpose Room celebrating Turkish culture and traditions. The event showcased a traditional wedding ceremony, gypsy dancers, food from Turkish Kitchen and a professional belly dancer, all made to involve the audience and spur participation.

Spring Undergraduate Career Day

Baruch held its Spring Undergraduate Career Day on Friday, April 11. It was sponsored by the Starr Career Development Center and approximately 87 companies were represented at the event, which were evenly distributed across various industries. The SCDC reports about 700 students attended the event.

Writers honored at first award ceremony

The first annual Ticker Awards ceremony was held in the Newman Conference center, in the Library building on Tuesday, May 6. Over 60 guests were present, including President Kathleen Waldron, Vice President of Student Affairs Ben Corpus, and a few of the journalism professors including Roslyn Bernstein and Geanne Rosenberg .
