Undergraduate Student Government (USG) will be hosting welcome week starting on Monday, with a host of events geared towards welcoming students back for the spring semester.
"The whole idea behind it is to make sure that students feel welcome [...] a good way to put it is welcoming them back from the cold winter to a warm welcome for everyone involved," said Antonio Alfonso, president of USG.
USG plans to touch on the general student population feel and plans to make Baruch feel like a more fun school.
Starting on Monday, there will be free giveaways on the second floor lobby. The giveaways will include stress balls, bookbags, Baruch gear and even metrocards.
On Tuesday, USG will be supporting the Transfer Student Organization's party in the gym.After that, USG will continue with their free giveaways.
The evening continues with USG's open house from 2:30-5:30 p.m.
"Traditionally we do an open house to get people to come by and see what we can offer," said Alfonso.
Wednesday's event will be dubbed "Willy Wonka" and will feature lots of candy giveaways. This event will also extend to the game room, where Alfonso stated there will be pool tournaments and Wii tournaments happening.
Thursday promises to be a fun-filled day. From 12-5 p.m. USG and Student Life are teaming up to create the first every Winter Carnival, where there will be slides, ice skating rinks as well as hot chocolate.
As the night progresses, it will just be "one giant party night." USG will hosting a Rave in the Multipurpose Room (1-107) .
The party will continue at Van Diemen's and Hiro afterwards, an event that USG is sponsoring.
"We're tryign to make that sure that everyone has fun," said Alfonso.
