Chancellor Matthew Goldstein announced the CUNY Tobacco Policy Advisory Committee to review the current smoking policy. According to a message from Chancellor Goldstein, the committee was established to improve public health and the health of its students and faculty.
Goldstein reported that the committee, which is comprised of representatives from CUNY, is already making efforts to review policy-related issues.
The class of 2014 started Baruch on Wednesday with Freshman Convocation, where they listened to a discussion of their common summer reading A Bitter Sea and heard addresses from VP of Students Affairs Ben Corpus and Provost James McCarthy. The event also welcomed Baruch's new president Mitchel Wallerstein to the school.
Students moved in on August 22 to Baruch's new residence hall at 101 Ludlow Street, which was opened this year. About 120 students, including 92 freshmen moved in, according to NY1 News. President Wallerstein said he is working to expand Baruch's housing capabilities.
