In the midst of the holiday season when most people were planning vacations, a small group of former and current members of the Baruch men's basketball program were planning something that grabbed the attention of former NBA greats.  From an idea that was born around the Christmas of 2010, came a $4.

    After all of the holiday eating and relaxing it's time to hit the books, and that must be the last thing you want to do. Truth be told, this is also problem for many athletes. The dreaded winter season. While some, in particular swimmers, are now headed into the toughest part of their season, others have been at rest for a while, like Cross Country runners.

    The men's basketball team was left with a salty loss on Wednesday, where they lost in an overtime game with a final score of 64-62 to Medgar Evers. Their Conference record is now 3-4. Senior Calvin Jurewicz-Johnson led Baruch in scoring with 15 points.

    Here we are merely one month into the NBA season and we have been subjected to some exciting but very sloppy professional basketball games.  However the level of excitement is comparable to last season and in these early days there are no shortage of story lines.

With their 22nd consecutive win against the CCNY Beavers, the women's basketball team has again overpowered the team for their first CUNY athletic conference win.

As the NBA players union and the owners finally reached a tentative agreement last week to start the season on Christmas Day, fans around the country and the world rejoiced.

Throughout the past month, it is safe to say that one Baruch athlete who has made a great impact and contribution to her team is junior Lauren Hayden, who was named Athlete of the Month by the athletic department staff.
