The men's basketball team was left with a salty loss on Wednesday, where they lost in an overtime game with a final score of 64-62 to Medgar Evers.

Their Conference record is now 3-4. Senior Calvin Jurewicz-Johnson led Baruch in scoring with 15 points. He also added six rebounds, three assists and a steal to his stat line.

The home team got off to a great start with an almost effortless lead over the cougars of Medgar Evars, during which the Bearcats established a ten-point lead over their opponents.

The Bearcats kept Medgar Evers to just 19 points in the first half.

It was a sublime defensive effort from Baruch. This lead held sway on and over into the second half, which it was doubtful Baruch would ever let go of this consolidated lead.

It wasn't until the last five minutes of the game that the Cougars were able to galvanize their effort and put forward a desperate attempt to close the incessant gap, which dominated over three quarters of the game.

With four minutes remaining in the second period, the game was tied and more alive than ever as the Bearcats struggled to fight against the Cougars' second wind.

In what appeared to be an abdication on Baruch's behalf, Medgar Evars continued to score, appropriating another crucial shot within the final minute of the game.

It was only during the last five seconds that the Bearcats were able to provide a desperate shot by Freshman Rob Goldstein in order to tie the game and extend it onto overtime.

The Bearcats had the final possession of the second half but Senior Mickey Abbatiello's three-point attempt did not fall.

It was a terrible disappointment for Baruch, who had been up by 12 points with just six minutes left of the game.

The Bearcats gave up 37 points in the second half which was almost twice as much as they gave up in the first. They were also outrebounded throughout the entire game, racking up only 37 rebounds to Medgar Evers' 59.

Within the determining final five minutes of the game, Baruch was able to inch away with a two-point lead before the Cougars dragged them back into a 58-58 tie, and again onto 60-60.

It wasn't until Cougars scored on a fast-break layup within the final five seconds of overtime that the Bearcats began to collectively fear for the worst. by this point exhausted. Goldstein's jumper was Baruch's last chance to tie

"We basically got out hustled in the end. We lost heart." Said Freshman Granville Gittens. He, along with Senior Justin Giryluk, had a team high three steals.
